Harmonic’s IRIS™ is a Video Quality of Service software suite that provides video quality, global channel availability and source profiling measurements for hundreds of programs, both in real time and historically for up to one year. This allows operators to analyze their sources and programming over time and increase end-customer satisfaction.
IRIS Features
Source Profiling – Channel complexity varies across time, and a channel which may be easy to compress during a certain period of time might become quite complex during another. IRIS can profile the sources of the entire lineup by providing information on Source Complexity, Source Quality and Source Availability.
Statistical Multiplex Optimization Score – IRIS is able to report a pool score which identifies whether a DiviTrack IP system is optimized or not. This score reflects not only the average video quality of services across time, but also variation of video quality during this time.
Video Quality Degradation Score – IRIS reports the average degradation of video quality on channels or pools of choice. This score is based on the decisions the encoder makes, and takes into consideration the understanding of the human visual systems. Operators can correlate this data with other metrics such as source complexity or noise to compare source versus video quality degradation.
On-demand and scheduled reports – Based on predefined templates, IRIS can generate reports to be provided to executives or headend managers, either on-demand or on a per-schedule basis.
Dashboards – IRIS takes advantage of the latest in reporting technology and provides crucial information at the operator’s fingertips. With a comprehensive yet very intuitive user interface, operators can monitor the entire lineup behavior and video quality in real time from a web-based interface.
Simplicity – Integrated with Harmonic’s NMX™ management system, IRIS can literally be operational in a matter of minutes. Service lineups are downloaded and synchronized with NMX, and data collection becomes instant.
Best CAPEX and OPEX choice – Able to handle any codec and any format, the IP-based IRIS is the ultimate choice for Video Quality of Service monitoring. Additionally, its ability to process and monitor up to 500 services in 1-RU, makes it a very attractive option from both CAPEX and OPEX perspectives.
